Find Adventure On A Sail Boat

For Adults and Families (2-6 people)

As we drift down the Rondout Creek into the Hudson River, your pulse softens, breath deepens, and mind calms. To the left, the Kingston Lighthouse, and to the right, a channel marker with cormorants and gulls standing vigil over the currents of the river. SUMMER CAMP ADVENTURES

Find Adventure at Summer Camp

Young People ages 8-13

These camps are nothing short of individualized, place-based, outdoor exploration on boats! Set on the Hudson River and surrounding valley, Adventure Boat Club offers youth ages 8-13 the experience to learn about the river, its ecology, and history, while being taught to sail and navigate with experienced educators and Captains. Our camp maintains a low student to teacher ratio, 3:1, and imbues adventure and exploration in all learning experiences including hiking across uninhabited islands, combing for treasure on deserted beaches, and creating life-long friendships.

Land Acknowledgement

Adventure Boat Club sails the waters of the historic territories of Wappinger, Mohican, and Munsee peoples, known as Lenni-Lenape or the River People. We work in places where these people have been expelled or historically erased. We acknowledge relationships and claims to this area that are maintained to the present day by these people and communities and attempt to ensure that they are not forgotten here in Mohicanituckassaic (The Hudson Valley) and throughout the world.

KIND WORDS

  • I grew up in Ulster County, but I never had the opportunity to explore the Hudson River by boat until getting out on the water with Cheryl. Exploring secret coves, uninhabited islands, sailing beneath the bridges I've only ever driven on, I saw this place differently. Speeding into the wind, drifting between the sunset and the moonrise, it isn't just a beautiful adventure; it's also a little vacation from the everyday, a shift in perspective that stays with you, even as you exit the dock.

    -Hillary H.

  • "Captain Nick is the whole package! He not only looks the part of a Hudson River Captain; he also has the extensive experience and magnetic personality to back it up. My time spent sailing with Nick ten years ago charted a new course for my life. I know you’ll love the adventure too, who knows where it will take you!"

–Europa McGovern, Chair, City of Poughkeepsie Waterfront Advisory Committee

  • "Captain Nick is great. He taught us how to steer the boat and how to raise the sail."

    –Zev, 10

  • "Being on the boat with Captain Nick was a real treat for the entire family. He interacted often with our children and kept both of them engaged throughout the entire trip. He is very knowledgeable about the area and local wildlife. We highly recommend this boat trip for anyone looking to get out on the water.”

    –Hadas Liebermann

  • "It is such a pleasure to be onboard with Nick and his enthusiastic, knowledgeable crew! Their unique passion for the Hudson River is shaped by many seasons of solid boating experience and a deep knowledge of local ecology. There's always a vibe of laid-back friendliness and a trustworthy attention to the wellbeing of everyone sailing through that moment with them. An adventure of just a couple of hours ends up feeling like a week’s vacation. I always learn something amazing, and I get to leave all my cares on shore. I couldn’t recommend this team enough!
